"Sacrifice Out of Love"
May 1, 2008
In June 2002, I was diagnosed as a paraplegic for life due to an accident. My Mom was in shock and disbelief for the next two years, but still remained by my side.
She helped my husband with our two kids and drove from Austin to Houston to visit me in the Hospital. Problems with my health continued and since I have been through
17 surgeries. My Mom in June of 2006 finally responded and got over her own grief. She moved us from a small town where we had no resources to Austin. She bought me a
handicap van, handicap workout center, and pays half of our rent. She is always there when needed and still helps with the kids. She has sacrificed her 20 years of
savings and retirement to give me a better life.

"Big Yellow Happy Face"
May 1, 2008
Ah, my mother. We have certainly had our ups and downs. We are polar opposites when it comes to everything. However, there are always those moments that touch your
heart and you can never seem to let go. I will never forget being 7 years old and my mom, dad, and I had had a horrible fight in the morning before school. I walked
off to school in tears. I felt to sad inside. It couldn't have been more than an hour later when a card was delivered to the school for me. My mom, the most creative
and artistically gifted woman I know, had brought in a card with a big yellow happy face. It said "I love you, have a good day. Love mom." I never forget this moment,
even when we argue now.

"She is the One. . ."
May 1, 2008
Let's face it, moms are amazing! My mom, however, is inspirational. She has rheumatoid arthritis, but you'd never know it. I get a cold, and the entire state of Ohio
knows it, but she endures pain, deformed hands and feet, joint replacement and dozens of surgeries without a whimper! Growing up I often took for granted the things
she did. She is your neighbor that brings you food when a loved one dies. She is the mom who packed you a special lunch to eat in your teepee made out of cornstalks
from the garden. She is the wife who always hops up to get her husband whatever he requests. (Hope MY husband doesn't read this!) She is the mom who teaches you how
to make pie crust and turkey dressing. She is the grandma that sews a costume for a book report presentation.

"Giving Me Everything She Couldn't Have"
May 2, 2008
Giving birth to a child at age 15 is no easy task. My mom endured a lot of difficult times, since she herself was a child when she gave birth to me. Friendships
were tested and even family relationships were ended. She sacrificed her education to give me an education. After finishing High School, she began working to support
me. But in a matter of five years after she finished High School and she had been working for a mere five years, she was running one the the biggest companies in the
country. Her efforts to provide me with everything she never had, and the childhood she missed, are inspiring. I wish I could truly demonstrate to her how thankful
I am. I love you, mami. You are the best.

"The Most Beautiful Woman in the World"
May 3, 2008
My mom is the 'Most Beautiful' woman in the world. I am the youngest of six children. Today I am a grown man, but still I am very close to my mother. I love
her dearly! I was raised, as she usually says, 'raised on the tail of her skirt.' Meaning always by her side, like the chicks following mother hen. Everything
my mother said, I did! Everything she told me not to do, I tried my best not to do! Her words were sacred, filled with truth, wisdom and guidance. I always
tried to be a good boy, and always felt very happy when she paraded me in front of her friends and said, 'He is such a good boy!' Those words always made me
feel happy and complete. I feel very fortunate that I always felt loved by her and safe by her side, like nothing could happen to anyone of us, simply because
she was around to protect us. Her presence was always powerful in my life.

"My Mom's My Best Friend"
May 4, 2008
I know everybody says they have the best mom in the world and it's true that everyone has the best mom in the world. But, I truly think that I have the best mom
in the whole wide world. When I was six years old my father died unexpected with spinal meningitis and my mom had to bring up five kids ages were 4,5,6,7,11 all
on her own. That meant whatever my mom had planned for her life had changed at that moment with the death of my father. Also, not only did my mother bring up five
kids on her own she never gave up and said forget it. She keeps going and going and still doing things till this day for her grown children, grandchildren and
everybody else. While bringing us up I'm sure she got a little help because she couldn't work.

"Thank You Mum"
May 1, 2008
My mum was the best thing that have ever happened in my life. Its been three years now since she passed away due to side effects of chemo after being diagnosed
with Cervical Cancer. It was back in Africa where life is a struggle, she would wake up at 5:00 AM in the morning to get us ready for school and she would be the
last one to get in bed at around midnight. She was an elementary teacher and I really appreciated her effort and sacrifice. Among other nice and sweet things
that my mother did for me there is one thing i will never forget about her and that is when i decided to get married in 1996 I was 19 years old. I just finished
high school and that was bad news to my dear mum since she wanted me to have a successful life.

"She Always Cares for Others"
April 29, 2008
My mom is one of the best moms in the world because she is a mom and a dad. She always has time for all of us. She works really hard to give us a decent
life and never gives up on any of us. She also cooks homemade meals everyday. She deserves all of the love in world. I love my mom whith all
my heart. Every day should be Mother's Day. We used to live close to the border and she always helped others by giving them food
and love, even when we were so poor. She always cares for others and helps them. I find that very amazing. My mom is a
wonderfull person.

"Like My Mother"
May 1, 2008
I want to be MY Mother. They say if you want to know what you will become as you get older just look at your MOTHER! My Mother is the back bone of our family. She
knows what not to say and just when advise is needed or not! I can talk with her just as if she was my sister. My mother is caring, funny, naturing and oh so strong!
Strong not just physically but mentally. I watched my mother care for my sister's mother-in-law when she needed her the most. Everyday she would get up very early in
the morning and go to my sister's house to care for a very fragile friend and family member that was dying from cancer. She would talk with her, wash and feed her. My
mother made her so very comfortable and I know mom just being there, brought happiness to her.

"Kindness Matters"
May 2, 2008
My mom is "everyone's MOM" My mom has 2 children by birth, my sister and I; she also has 230 adopted children. No they were not legal adoptions - but they are adoptions
of the heart. She has always been a magnet to those in need of warmth, understanding and love. Others have sought her out and she has "adopted" them. They become her
children and she loves and cares for them and calls to check on them and they love her and call her as well. They all call her mom. She has taken them into her house,
fed them, clothed them and their families and set them free. It is not uncommon for me to be introduced to a new "brother or sister" whenever I return home. I admire my
mother for the love she gives to her family and extends out to others.
